It's easy to feel a little helpless at times during this quarantine period. Whether you're homeschooling kids or working non-stop to keep your mind off of things, there's an overwhelming desire to "get back to normal." Some families are making medical supplies with their kids, some folks decorate windows to boost spirits as people walk past, and some businesses are trying to contribute however they can with funding and resources. In times like this, we need to get creative with how we help each other, as businesses and as people. Not only is it important for those who truly need aid, but research also shows that giving is good for your physical and emotional health

To that end, my next few posts will be about our portfolio companies who have come up with creative ways to help us all give back.

First up is our portfolio company Made In Cookware, who Business Insider says is "changing the way we shop for cookware and knives.” They built a brand new line of products just for the COVID crisis, with 100% of the proceeds from certain items going to help restaurants and restaurant workers in need.

 What's the offer
Made In is donating proceeds from the sale of their Southern Smoke Collection to the Southern Smoke Emergency Relief Fund, which provides funding to people in the food and beverage industry faced with unforeseen expenses not covered by insurance.

 How to help
Shop the Southern Smoke collection here. 100% of certain items will go to the relief fund, including their award-winning silicone universal lid. They will also donate 15% of proceeds from their premium steel signature knives and locally sourced repurposed American maple wood butcher block.

 More about Made In
In 2016 Made In set out to rethink the kitchen landscape, partnering with the best raw material providers and multi-generational, family-owned manufacturers in the U.S., France, and Italy to build superior kitchen products. Three years later, their products are used in a plethora of Michelin-star restaurants, and their business model makes these normally out-of-reach pieces available to your average at-home chef. With no resellers, distributors, or retailers needing their cut, Made In can put more money into sourcing premium raw materials, working with the best manufacturers, and creating innovative products — passing the savings on to their loyal customers
